"Umar Farooq Tariq Lutfi was born in Karachi, Sindh, on September 20, 1951. He is a professional footballer as well as a coach in Pakistan. He also works at Sui Southern Gas as a manager. He worked with Pakistan Airlines for the majority of his working life. He was also the interim manager of the Pakistan national football team in 2011."

During the country's first-ever sporting awards event, held in Karachi to recognise the accomplishments and efforts of the country's heroes, he received the Pakistan Sports Awards for Best Coach in Pakistan in 2019. The creator and president of Pakistan Sports Awards, Shoaib Malik, said it was everyone's obligation to honour the accomplishments of local athletes and other unsung heroes who have made the country proud. Lutfi has worked with both the men's and women's national teams as a manager. He was recruited as the coach of the Portugal team for the Socca World Cup. Lutfi's net worth is reported to be anywhere from $1 million to $8 million dollars.
